Ten days of competitions and 70 pilots that from August, the 31st to September, the 11th, competing for the supremacy of 26th FAI WAC 2011 world acrobatic championship at Foligno Airport, a city placed in the center of Umbria ,region rich in history ,art ,culture, traditions and gastronomy.
In their airport, placed on an historic aeronautic area and that celebrates its centenary this year, pilots of the 26th WAC 2011, maximum expression of world leading acrobatic style, will be the leading actors.
We’re going to see about 70 pilots and real artists, from 16 different countries; USA, FRANCE, GREAT BRITAIN,SWISS,CZECH REPUBLIC,RUSSIA,AUSTRALIA, SPAIN, GERMANY, JAPAN, SVEDEN, LUXEMBURG,ISRAEL,SOUTH AFRICA, HUNGARY, ITALY.
Acrobatic flight is a new exciting and spectacular discipline that combines high speed, precision and ability.
All the aircraft, single engine planes with propeller, are light and agile, and piloted by experienced pilots, can perform great evolutions, challenging physics rules and showing pilots’ physical fitness.
This will be even more evident in the race program at the end of the competition which will take place individually, but which also includes a score for the team and that is always more spectacular: the 4 minute complete free individual program, also known as freestyle.
But being alone …. Looking upwards to see the acrobatic perfomances of the pilots, certainly can’t be enough in a region like UMBRIA, that’s why Umbriae’ , event and incoming service society, offers to all guest attending the show the best solutions to appriciate art, history, culture and , not least, the local delicacies.
Trips of 1,2,3 or more days are offered to visit the museums, monuments, masterpieces, historic buildings and for the tasting of delicious typical local quality products.
Worth mentioning is the impressive parade and the tournament of the “Giostra” of the QUINTANA with sumptuous costumes of the 17th century to be held in the WAC and will help to wrap the special guests in the charming atmosphere of the time.
